North Carolina A&T Graduate Morgan C. Johnson Named One of HBCU Times’ 14 Graduates to Watch
Morgan C. Johnson has been named one of HBCU Times’ 14 Graduates to Watch for 2026, earning recognition for her outstanding academic achievement, scientific research, leadership, and commitment to community service.
A proud graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Johnson graduated summa cum laude with dual degrees in Biology and Kinesiology, establishing herself as a scholar-leader dedicated to creating meaningful impact both on campus and beyond.
Throughout her collegiate career, Johnson held numerous leadership positions, including Freshman Class President through the Student Government Association, Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Ray Warren Cross the Street Tutorial Program, Vice President of Global Medical Brigades, and Social Media Chair for the Student Government Elections Committee.
She also served as a Biology Big Sister Mentor, Undergraduate Student Ambassador for both the Biology Department and the Pre-Professional Scholars Program, and as a member of the University’s Student Advisory Board, demonstrating her passion for mentorship and student success.
Johnson’s commitment to service extended internationally through Global Medical Brigades, where she participated in medical service trips to Panama and Belize, helping provide healthcare resources and essential supplies to underserved communities.
As Site Coordinator for the Ray Warren Cross the Street Tutorial Program, she led initiatives supporting elementary students academically while establishing an annual Gift-A-Kid Initiative that benefited more than 50 students each year. Her dedication to serving others resulted in the Excellence in Community Service GALA Award after completing more than 500 hours of community service.
In addition to her leadership and service, Johnson built an impressive research portfolio. She conducted research at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering and was selected as an inaugural National Institutes of Health (NIH) ESTEEMED Research Scholar.
Her professional experience includes internships and fellowships with nationally recognized organizations, including the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Amgen, and Novartis, where she served as an Oncology General Management Intern and Beacon of Hope Fellow.
Following graduation, Johnson will continue her academic journey as a Rales Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University, pursuing a Master of Science in Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Engineering. She plans to dedicate her career to advancing health equity, expanding access to innovative healthcare solutions, and inspiring future generations through research, leadership, and service.
For her exceptional accomplishments in science, leadership, research, and community engagement, Morgan C. Johnson has earned recognition as one of HBCU Times’ 2026 Graduates to Watch.
