Tia Criss has been named one of HBCU Times’ 14 Graduates to Watch for 2026, earning recognition for her academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to serving her community.

A distinguished Business Administration graduate of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, Tia completed her undergraduate journey with a perfect 4.0 GPA while serving as a proud member of the university’s Keystone Honors Academy. As a Keystone Scholar, she earned a full-tuition scholarship and consistently achieved Dean’s List honors throughout her collegiate career.

Beyond the classroom, Tia demonstrated a passion for leadership and service. She served on the Academic Literacy Committee for Business Education and Professional Studies and was selected to participate in the prestigious Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute, where she continued developing her leadership skills alongside outstanding student leaders from across the nation.

Her commitment to community engagement extended through several service initiatives. Tia volunteered with Flixxaid, creating digital content for nonprofit organizations, served as a TED Talks translator to improve global accessibility, supported outreach efforts through Bombas, and participated as a panelist during a Northeast High School campus visit to encourage future college students.

Professionally, Tia completed a Summer 2025 Accounting and Finance Internship with the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia, where she strengthened her financial, analytical, and professional skills while expanding her commitment to community impact.

Originally beginning her collegiate journey as an Education major, Tia embraced personal growth by transitioning into Business Administration, a decision that strengthened her confidence, resilience, and long-term career goals.

This fall, she will continue her academic journey by pursuing a Master of Business Administration at West Chester University, where she plans to prepare for a career in health or life insurance underwriting.
